GENERAL INFORMATION
Conference Venue
The Workshop will take place between May 27 and 30, 2003, at the Elba International
Physics Center (EIPC) see
the map , Via Vadi, 5, I-57033 (phone and fax: ++39 0565 904381), in
Marciana Marina, Elba Island (see map of Elba)
Please note that there is no possibility of e-mail connection.
Registration will be open at the EIPC starting on May 26, at 6
p.m. until 8 p.m., and will open again on May 27 at 8 a.m.
Scientific program and format
The aim of the workshop is to review the current status and perspectives
of the above field in a friendly and lively discussion setting, bringing
together the most active researchers in the area.
The Workshop will take place in the Conference Center of Marciana Marina,
Elba Island (Tuscany) from May 27 to 30, 2003. The slight travel inconvenience
of holding the Workshop on the Island will be compensated by the beauty
of the place and mitigated by the plan to organize a bus-boat transportation
from Pisa and Florence to Marciana, both on the arrival and on the departing
dates.
The logistics limits the number of participants at around 70.
For each main issue key speakers have been invited and room will be
left for contributions which fall within the scope of the workshop. Ample
time will be reserved for formal and informal discussions among participants.
Those interested in taking part please fill the registration
form specifying if they intend to present a contribution, and giving
a title and an abstract. In case of an excessive number of proposed contributions,
the SOC will have to make a choice.
No posters are foreseen, but the discussion breaks should allow anyone
to participate actively.
There will be no printed conference proceedings, all presentations
will be
made available electronically through the workshop web pages.
Registration Fee
The registration fee is 150 Euros. This includes coffee breaks, a pleasant
conference dinner and also the possibility to use a free bus transportation
from Pisa or Florence to the site of the Conference (and back). The fee
will not be reduced for those not taking the bus or not going to the conference
dinner.
The fee is due at registration and must be paid in Euros. Payment by
credit cards cannot be accepted (cash only). There is a bank approximately
100 meters from the conference venue.
Accommodation
Rooms have been reserved in Hotels in Marciana Marina within walking distance
from the Center.
All bookings will be made through a form
which is available at this page.
A travel agency will take care of booking your room according to your
preferences.
Weather
In late May, the weather is usually sunny and mild, but you should still
bring something warm to wear in the evening. The water is usually warm
enough for swimming. Some storms may occur, so you should also bring suitable
clothes in case of rain.
