School Organisation

                         
The School will take place in the Conference Centre of Marciana Marina, Elba Island (Tuscany) from Monday 4th September to Friday 8th September, 2006, followed by a restricted JETSET meeting on Saturday 9th September. The travel inconvenience of holding the school on an island will be alleviated by a planned courtesy bus service. The routes covered will be from Florence and Pisa Airports and Train Stations to Piombino (on the mainland), and from Portoferraio to Marciana (on the island). It is planned that these routes will be serviced on the 3rd, 9th and 10th of September.

The school is organised as a series of presentations plus two sessions of short contributed talks. Other contributions will be accepted in the form of 'announced' posters as follows. In the meeting centre there is only limited room for exhibiting poster, and it is not possible to accomodate all of the posters if they are of "standard" size.
Instead, we ask interested participants to prepare her/his own poster on A4/Letter-sized paper using free format, in colour or B&W, printed single or double-sided. One copy of each poster will then be displayed on the panels and additional copies will be distributed to interested participants, or arranged on tables for voluntary collection. By way of compensation for this lack of poster space, authors will be given the opportunity to give a short talk (1 slide) at the end of each session.

In the registration form, those who wish to present a contribution should give a title and an abstract for inclusion in the abstract booklet. Proceedings of the school will be published as a book in Springer-Verlag's ``Lecture notes in Physics''. After the school we will prepare temporary web pages with the slides of the presentations and posters, with the agreement of the authors.

We strongly suggest, however, early registration because September is still the tourist season on Elba. Logistics limit the number of participants to around 100. In the event that we receive more requests for registrations than we can accept, the SOC will have to select participants, placing the remaining ones on a waiting list.

A registration fee of  75 Euros will be collected upon arrival at the school venue. Partial funding support, for young researchers outside the JETSET network, should be available (although preference will be given to those proposing a scientific  contribution). Please request this at the time of registration stating, in a few lines, why full support cannot be provided by the applicant's own institution.
